Per Minute Phone Rates
Are telecommunication rates going up or down? Telecommunication providers have a few choices: go bankrupt, raise rates or continue with the status quo.
We have been noticing that our large clients are beginning to sign longer contracts with carriers between 36 and 60 months This might be a good idea especially if you are not a gambler with your telecommunication rates.
We recommend that you read and study the fine print and protect yourself against a host of confusing and complicated clauses that are difficult to navigate.
How does cable internet connections compare with DSL?
With the increase of residential users in your neighborhood connection to the Internet through Cable Internet connections are becoming slower and slower. Your neighbors are connected to the Internet through a single pipe that connects many residences. From 3:00 PM up to 10:00 PM a number of users have told us that access to the Internet decreases so much that using their Cable Internet connection is frustrating.
Finally, some good news; Ameritech is supporting it's DSL service...On the other hand, DSL is a dedicated connection that with appropriate installation, works with a fairly high speed. I personally have Ameritech DSL connections both at home and at work and have found the service to be outstanding. Support is only an "800" number away with very good technocrats answering questions.
Bankruptcy survivors threaten existing carriers financial health:
Assume that Worldcom and other carriers emerge from bankruptcy without much debt they could under price the market and cause a severe drop in prices. Just imagine that you have billions of dollars of switches and other equipment and massive networks with little or no debt. You then begin to charge low prices and get rid of all your competition and then become a "monopoly".
This is a possibility and could force the financially stable carriers into bankruptcy.
We live in an interesting time...just stay tuned...

TIDBITS:
1. Slamming and Cramming seems to have been reduced: We do not see as much slamming and cramming as we used to see. However, we see carriers raising hidden charges within services. We saw one client go from monthly service charges of $750 to over $1,085/month. When we asked the carrier what these charges were the carrier responded that these charges were monthly charges for the privilege of using a specific carrier. We demanded that it be removed and requested a credit for these outrageous overcharges. We were able to get it removed, however no credit was ever issued.
People always ask me why certain charges are on phone bills. My answer is always the same: "the reason is because the carrier can get away with these outrageous overcharges." Only patience and constant follow-up will enable the consumer to have these inappropriate charges waved.
2. FCC WEB SITE: A really neat Web site is www.fcc.gov/Bureaus/Common_Carrier . If you have any questions concerning your phone bills this site should answer them.
